The Experimental Statistics ‘Crop Map of Scotland’ is a map of all the agricultural fields in Scotland categorised into the likely main crop types which were grown in 2019.
The map allows you to zoom to particular areas and click individual fields to view the probability of that field being a given crop. The map currently contains predictions for fields in 2019. This work has been achieved using Sentinel 1 radar imagery and modelling techniques.
Please click here for a detailed description of the work.
Below are the predicted areas for the whole of Scotland for four main crop types and grassland.
Use the Region filter to view the predicted areas for different Sub-Regions (NUTS 2).
Model predictions were compared to the agricultural census areas in Scotland.
Some crops performed better than other (click here to find out more).
